15-year-old DF'd child under quarantine? How young could it be?
by FatFreek 2005 ini'm thinking about including the following in an online essay but wish to make sure it's fair and accurate.
any baptized member who uses tobacco and cannot quit ( deemed unrepentant) will be disfellowshipped.
be aware that there is no stated minimum age limit and i've heard of children as young as 11 who've been baptized.

New here - hello!
by sickandtired ini can't believe i'm actually posting here.
i've been lurking for a while and i've been having doubts about this being the "truth" for years and sometimes feel really stuck and hopeless about my situation.
i'm married to an elder (who is 110% jw) and i was for the most part raised in the "truth".

1984 WT cover, 1914 Gen That Will Not Pass -- How many of 16 alive today?
by FatFreek 2005 inthose people on that cover were supposed to represent a group of people that would still live on into the new order.
in your best guess, how old were most of those 16 people at the time the photo was taken, and how many do you suppose are still alive today?.
remember, that wt was printed in 1984, nearly 27 years ago.

Can someone with some time and photo editing skills repost the 1984 '1914 Generation that would not pass' Watchtower cover with the name, date of birth and date of death of each JW pictured? I think it would have greater impact to see all that info right on the cover drawing.

As of today, I will no longer be one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
by Knowsnothing ini spoke with my mother, told her everything, my doubts, my fears, my sins.
it came rushing out.
my mother is devastated.

Chin up. Standing up to mom is the hardest part in my opinion and you've already survived that.

The effect we are having on the Watchtower is HUGE
by jwfacts ini was inspired by a recent thread i know i aint gunna crumble the wt, but a girl can dream to look at the effect we as individuals are having on the watchtower society.. 3dogs1husband quoted a story to show that even helping only one person is worth it.. it is encouraging to note that the one person you may have helped has lead to millions being helped, due to the power of compounding growth.. compounding growth is well illustrated by the rice on a chessboard problem.
if you start with 1 grain of rice on square one, and double it to 2 on the second, 4 on the third, 8 on the fourth, by the last (64th) square there would be 18,446,744,073,709,551,615 grains of rice.. likewise, if you help one person out of the grip of the watchtower this year, then next year you help one more and they help one, in a few years that is going to have a formidable result on the number of jehovahs witnesses.
look at the following statistics.

Hi Marvin,
I can't say that I agree or disagree with your graph or conclusion because I simply don't understand them. Perhaps you can explain a little bit more what the y-axis represents. According to Wikipedia's world population page the annual world population growth rate has hovered between its 1962 high of 2.2% and 1.1% in 2009; these percentages don't match the numbers on the left hand side of your table. Perhaps if you used one line to represent the world population growth rate over time and another to plot the Witnesses annual growth rate a clearer comparison could be made.

I don't recall the exact time of the change in reporting hours but I distinctly remember that in the past when studying with a baptized individual only the study conductor was able to count the time. Now however, as mentioned in the April 2011 KM Question Box, both the study conductor and the publisher who accompanies him or her on the study should report the time spent. The reason given is that they want newly baptized ones to be fully 'rooted' in the Christ so every effort must be made to study the 2 entire books with them before leaving them on their own. No need to be fully 'rooted' before baptism.
That change, especially if a publisher knows how to milk a study by considering 2-4 paragraphs per session, can significantly boost the hours counted by at least two people. Imagine: two publishers can now count time spent teaching an already converted individual.

So where are you now?
by fade_away inare any of you on here not living the dreams you had as a kid because of the "no higher education" rule?.
i was a born in jw and remained one until the age of 25. by my late teens i knew what i wanted to do with my life.
i'm about to write a lengthy history explaining why i'm not currently in the carreer i wanted, so you can skip this boring story and just comment if you want to.. i was raised to be a loyal jw and since birth already had many goals chosen for me.

I went back to college 8 years ago when my doubts about the troof were beginning to crystallize. Got a BA, have a pretty awesome job, was promoted 6 months ago to a position that definitely requires some post-grad knowledge. Was seriously considering going for my MBA this year (especially since my company offers full reimbursement at some top-notch Universities in my area) but decided to put it off for another year in order to concentrate on deprogramming myself. I was subjected to 33 years of WTBTS mis-education. I'm half-way through CoC and have been a member here for a few weeks now. I've been out of the KH for 2 years but I'am still surrounded by JWs so I it's a constant struggle. That's the challenge of being a fader who wants to stay close to JDub family.
FadeAway - Education is a life long process don't get too hung up on having a later than usual start - these days it's the norm to see students of all ages in undergrad and post-grad programs.
